The Plastics and Composites Joining Laboratory (PCJL) at The Ohio State University (OSU) is part of the only ABET accredit Welding Engineering Program in the U.S. As the only academic group specializing in the joining of plastics and composites, the PCJL helps meet industry’s urgent need for the advancement and application of welding, adhesive bonding, and mechanical joining to plastics and composites parts and structures. Together with researchers from the Departments of Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, and Chemistry and researchers from the Edison Welding Institute, the PCJL provides the strong human resources to develop new welding technologies and to meet industry’s urgent requirement. The interaction between industries and PCJL includes automotive, aerospace, consumer products construction, and packing industry. These and other industries can benefit greatly from a better understanding of plastic joining techniques. The PCJL provides this understanding by helping industries advance and applies newest plastics joining technology.
